Time required

Making a good portrait of someone takes some time. If you come by for a photo session, keep in mind that we need at least one hour to portray you. This time will be needed to discuss your wishes, the type of photographs you like, to switch between different outfits and help you pose.

Particularities for photoshoot on location

A photoshoot on location is mostly possible between April and October either early in the morning, in the late afternoon or in the evening as the light is then at its best. In this case though, the weather will play an important role, particularly in Belgium! It will require some flexibility in order to adapt to the circumstances unless you fancy using umbrellas... In terms of clothing, make sure it will not blend in with the background. For instance, if you are going for a photo session in the woods, try to limit greens in your clothing. Take a couple of outfits with you and keep in mind you will need to get changed on the move...

Clothing

The best outfits for portrait photos are generally simple, timeless, classic pieces of clothing. Solid fabrics and subtle patterns. Textured, natural fabrics like knits or tweeds. A touch of lace or leather can also be great. Textures add depth, and simple clean lines draw attention to faces. 

For family portrait, all outfits and accessories of each family member should be in harmony. Pick a color combination for your family to work within. We don’t want everyone to match perfectly or wear nothing but a single color, but we also don’t want everyone to wear different colors and patterns. If you really have no idea whatsoever, dark jeans combined with white shirt/t-shirt/blouse are always a good option. By the way, don’t forget the shoes and accessories such as jewelry, hats, as they express your personality and make you unique.

Whatever you choose, avoid bold, busy prints, logos and clothing with high-contrast pattern and above all make sure you feel comfortable.
